Six Characters in Search of an Author

By Luigi Pirandello

Rehearsals for a (not very good) comedy are about to begin when a group of strangers wander onstage; six characters from a different play, searching for a way to finish their story after the death of their playwright/creator has left them stranded in time. At first outraged at the interruption, the director is eventually persuaded to help these lost souls tell their story, and we are plunged into a metaphysical world of competing realities, where the boundaries between acting and truth, reality and fiction, become very blurred indeed.

Performances take place in Russell H. Miller Theater September25-30, 2014

English Inspiration

October 24, 2014 7:30pm CT Van Meter Hall Auditorium

Introducing Guest Conductor Kelly Corcoran of the Nashville Symphony

Barber: Music for a scene from Shelley
Walton: Concerto for Violin
Vaughn Williams: Symphony No.5 in D Major

"England" is the theme, even though Barber himself is an American. Spectacular and beautiful music, some of it is rarely performed. The Vaughn Williams is stunning, ending on a serene, beautiful, ascending note of calm peace.
